HC Deb 11 July 1906 vol 160 c870
MR. MACKARNESS (Berkshire, Newbury)

On behalf of the hon. Member for Chester, I beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether his attention has been directed to the meeting of citizens held at Rosettenville, a suburb of Johannesburg, demanding more adequate police protection against outrages committed by Chinese coolies: and what steps, if any, have been taken to meet this demand.

MR. CHURCHILL

I have not received an official report as to this meeting or as to any specific action arising out of the recommendation passed at the meeting.
