HC Deb 02 July 1906 vol 159 c1385
MR. T. L. COEBETT (Down, N.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he declined to receive a deputation of the Irish Protestant National Teachers Union; and, if so, on what grounds.

(Answered by Mr. Bryce.) I informed the committee of this organisation that, owing to the many matters of immediate importance which called for my attention, I found it impossible to receive a deputation, but at the same time I told them that I should be happy to consider any written statement of the matters which they desired to bring to my notice. I have since received a statement from the committee and will give it due consideration, but the question raised in it is largely one for the Commissioners of National Education.
