HC Deb 27 February 1906 vol 152 c1011
MR. ALDEN (Middlesex, Tottenham)

To ask the President of the Local Government Board whether he can give any information as to the approximate cost of maintaining the aged poor of the United Kingdom over sixty-five years of age by means of indoor and outdoor relief; and what is the average cost per head respectively of the two methods of relief.

(Answered by Mr. John Burns.) I regret that I am not able to give the information asked for, and I fear that it would not be practicable to obtain it. The jurisdiction of the Local Government Board only extends to England and Wales, so that my Answer must be taken as applying only to that part of the United Kingdom.
