§ MR. GINNELLTO ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland what action the Government propose to take to restrain landlords who, having offered to sell their estates at exhorbitant prices, are now suing the tenants who rejected those terms for rack rents and arrears of rack rents.
(Answered by Mr. Bryce.) The Government have no power to take any action interfering with the legal rights possessed by landlords. In any case of a difference as to price in which the Estates Commissioners think that their action as conciliators can aid the parties in arriving at an amicable arrangement they are at liberty to offer their good offices.
