JOWETT (Bradford, W.)To ask the Secretary to the Admiralty if he will state whether there are any assistant clerks (new class) in the Department of the Accountant-General of the Navy who are engaged on the same work as, and who share similar responsibilities with, the majority of the second division clerks; and, if so, whether, seeing that owing to the recent reorganisation in this Department promotion to the second division is stopped for an indefinite period, he will say what 1242 steps, if any, are being taken to ensure practical recognition of the service of such assistant clerks.
