HC Deb 30 April 1906 vol 156 c240
MR. T. L. CORBETT (Down, N.)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he can state the number of shipwrecks and strandings that have taken place during the last ten years on the Irish coast from Belfast Lough Copeland Lights on Mew Island to Carlingford Lough.

* MR. LLOYD-GEORGE

The number of vessels which have stranded between the entrances of Belfast Lough, Grey Point, and Carlingford Lough, Cranfield Point, during the last ten years is 179, of which thirty-one became total wrecks and 148 were more or less damaged. Only two of the strandings were attended with loss of life, the number of lives lost being five.
