HC Deb 30 April 1906 vol 156 cc239-40
MR. WEIR (Ross and Cromarty)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will state whether the Northern Lighthouse Commissioners have yet decided to establish a light and fog signal on the Island of Rona, thirty-nine miles north-east of the Butt of Lewis.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRADE (Mr. LLOYD-GEORGE,) Carnarvon Boroughs

I am informed by the Commissioners of Northern Lighthouses that they have not yet decided to propose the erection of a lighthouse and fog signal station on north Rona, and that in view of the heavy cost which its establishment and maintenance would involve, and the more pressing claims of other schemes, it is unlikely that the erection of the station referred to will be proceeded with in the near future.
