HC Deb 30 April 1906 vol 156 c235
MR. C. J. O'DONNELL (Newington, Walworth)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether he is aware that fifty-four large public meetings to protest against the partition of Bengal were held in the month of March, and if he will state what has been done to allay the unrest in that province.

MR. JOHN MORLEY

I am not sure of the exact number, but I understand that many such meetings have been held. No special measures are being taken, so far as I am aware, for the purpose mentioned in the Question, nor, as I am advised, do such measures seem to be demanded.
