§ MR. SLOANTo ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that complaints have been repeatedly made by the inhabitants of Killyleagh, county Down, regarding the insanitary condition of their homes and the inferior supply of pure water for domestic purposes; and what action, if any, does he propose taking to remedy this state of affairs.
(Answered by Mr. Walter Long.) In February, 1902, the rural district council forwarded to the Local Government Board particulars of proposed works for the water supply of Killyleagh, and the Board fixed an area of charge for the cost of the works, So far as the Board are aware, no steps have since been taken by the council to provide the water supply, but as no formal complaint in the matter has been received the Board are unable to take action under Section 15 of the Public Health Act of 1896.
