HC Deb 31 May 1905 vol 147 c320
MR. SLOAN

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that the Corporation of the City of Belfast made a recommendation to the Inspector-General of the Royal Irish Constabulary regarding the desirability of establishing a police band for Belfast; will he say whether the Inspector-General has yet given his sanction for such; and, if not, will he explain the cause of the delay.

(Answered by Mr. Walter Long.) The recommendation referred to has been received by the Inspector-General, who is considering whether the exigencies of the public service will permit of the establishment of a police band for Belfast. A definite reply cannot yet be given.
