Member for Chorley, as representing the First 758 Commissioner of Works, whether he is aware that rabbits are being exterminated in Richmond Park by being entrapped by gins where they are sometimes kept in agony for hours suffering from mutilation; and whether he can take steps to effect the extermination of the rabbits in a more humane manner.
§ LORD BALCARRES (Lancashire, Chorley)The rabbits are being trapped as being the most effective manner of reducing their excessive numbers. All trapping must inflict pain on the animal; every effort is made to reduce this to a minimum by frequent visits to the traps.
