To ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer to what extent the yield of the land tax in the year 1904–5 was reduced below the amount produced in 1895–6 by the operation of the Act of 1896, which lowered the maximum rate payable from 4s. to 1s. in the £.

(Answered by Mr. Austen Chamberlain.) The operation of the Act of 1896 has reduced the yield of the land tax for the year 1904 5 by about £87,000.
