To ask the Secretary of State for India if he will state how many acres of land, the property of evicted ryots, have been put up for auction by Government in the Madras Presidency in default of payment of land revenue during the five years ending the 30th June, 1904.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Brodrick.) The Land Revenue Report for 1903–4, has not reached me. The sales of land during the five years ending 1902–3 were as under:—1898–9, 60, 806 acres; 1899–1900, 52, 852 acres; 1900–1, 61, 563 acres; 1901–2, 45, 712 acres; 1902–3, 30, 583 acres.
