HC Deb 16 March 1905 vol 143 c184
MR. ROCHE (Galway, E.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he can state the date upon which agreements for purchase of the Comyn Kenny and Longworth Estates were entered into by the Congested Districts Board; and whether the land has yet been given to the tenants in the district; and, if not, why.

(Answered by Mr. Atkinson.) In the case of the Comyn Kenny Estate the agreement for purchase with the vendor, in pursuance of Section 79 of the Land Act of 1903, has not yet been entered into owing to certain requirements under the rules not having been complied with, but it is expected that the agreement will shortly be completed. In the case of the Dames Longworth Estate, the agreement for purchase was executed on the 1st February last, but the estate has not yet been vested in the Board. The Congested Districts Board are not in a position to divide lands amongst the tenants until the property is legally vested in them.
