HC Deb 13 March 1905 vol 142 c1189
SIR THOMAS ESMONDE

To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will state who is the harbour or conservancy authority or the general lighthouse authority for the district whose duty it is to remove the wreck of the "Albert," which lies off Blackwater, in the county of Wexford.

(Answered by Mr. Gerald Balfour.) I am informed that this vessel was wrecked some fifty or sixty years ago, and a few remaining portions of her lie within 200 yards of the shore, inside the limits of jurisdiction of the Wexford Harbour Commissioners, who have power under Section 530 of The Merchant Shipping Act, 1894, to remove or destroy any vessel that may be sunk in the harbour or tidal water under their control in such manner as in their opinion to be an obstruction or danger to navigation or to lifeboats engaged in lifeboat service.
