To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he will state how many special inspectors of Irish have been selected by the National Board of Education, and what is the extent of their respective districts.

(Answered by Mr. Walter Long.) Mr. Lehane has been specially appointed as inspector of Irish, and has general supervision of instruction in that subject. Messrs, Mangan, Newell, and Duffy, district inspectors, who are familiar with Irish, have been assigned to co-operate with Mr. Lehane in examining and testing classes in Irish. Dr. Skeffington, senior inspector, and Messrs. P. J. Fitzgerald and McEnery, district inspectors, also possess a knowledge of Irish. Instruction in Irish is superintended in the circuits and by the inspectors named, as follows:—
