HC Deb 07 June 1905 vol 147 c927
MR. FIELD (Dublin, St. Patrick)

To ask the President of the Local Government Board if he has authorised the issue of a circular by the Medical Officer of Health for Tottenham District requesting meat traders to provide forks for the use of intending purchasers to hold and examine meat; and, if so, what section of the Public Health Act, or other statute, empowers such action.

(Answered by Mr. Gerald Balfour.) The circular was not authorised by me. I understand that it was not intended as a request which could be legally enforced, but rather as a suggestion in the general interests of the public health.
