HC Deb 05 June 1905 vol 147 cc707-8
COLONEL LEGGE (St. George's, Hanover Square)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Board of Trade whether it is intended that the Departmental Committee, recently appointed by the President to inquire as to the various forms of insurance in relation to the industrial classes, shall also deal with the work carried on by dividing societies and slate clubs.

MR. BONAR LAW

The reference to the Departmental Committee recently appointed by the President of the Board of Trade is limited to an inquiry into the operations of companies carrying on certain classes of business in relation to the industrial classes and was not intended See (4) Debates, cxli., 312. to extend to dividing societies, state clubs, or the unregistered societies.
