§ MR. EDWARD MITCHELL (Fermanagh, N.)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War how many cavalry horses have been bought in Ulster during the past six months by His Majesty's Government; and if he can state the numbers bought in each province in Ireland for a similar purpose during that period.
§ MR. ARNOLD-FORSTERThe total number of cavalry horses purchased in Ulster since January 1st, 1905, is eighty-one. In the other provinces in Ireland for the same period the figures are as follows:—Leinster,409; Munster, 264; Connaught, nil.
§ MR. EDWARD MITCHELLwas understood to ask why, if private dealers could buy in Ulster, the horses could not be obtained there for Army purposes as well?
