HC Deb 27 July 1905 vol 150 cc617-8
MR. EDWARD MITCHELL (Fermanagh, N.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War how many cavalry horses have been bought in Ulster during the past six months by His Majesty's Government; and if he can state the numbers bought in each province in Ireland for a similar purpose during that period.

MR. ARNOLD-FORSTER

The total number of cavalry horses purchased in Ulster since January 1st, 1905, is eighty-one. In the other provinces in Ireland for the same period the figures are as follows:—Leinster,409; Munster, 264; Connaught, nil.

MR. EDWARD MITCHELL

was understood to ask why, if private dealers could buy in Ulster, the horses could not be obtained there for Army purposes as well?

[No Answer was returned.]
