HC Deb 24 July 1905 vol 150 cc34-5
MR. JAMES O'CONNOR (Wicklow, W.)

To ask the Postmaster-General whether arrangements can be made for granting the postmen at the West Central District Office a tea interval of a few minutes when engaged on duty from 3. 40 p. m. to 7. 30 p. m., in view of the distance from the office at which many of them are compelled to live.

(Answered by Lord Stanley.) The postmen concerned are not entitled under the regulations to an interval for refreshment, and when they applied a few months ago they were so informed. As an act of grace, however, provided the work admits of it, a short interval between 3. 20 p. m. and 3. 40 p. m. is allowed to them.
