HC Deb 24 July 1905 vol 150 c34
MR. TALBOT

To ask the Secretary to the Board of Education whether he is aware that difficulties have been occasioned to managers and trustees of voluntary schools in cases where there is a teacher's house attached to the school for which the local education authorities refuse to pay any rent, while the trust deeds do not permit the house to be used for any other purpose than a teacher's residence; and whether the Board of Education propose to take any action in such cases.

(Answered by Sir William Anson.) The local authority is under no obligation to use the teacher's house where a teacher's house forms part of the school premises. Where under the trust de d the house can be used for no other purpose it is open to the trustees to apply to the Board for a scheme providing for such use of the house as may serve the general purposes of the school.
