HC Deb 20 July 1905 vol 149 c1407
SIR JOHN TUKE (Edinburgh and St. Andrews Universities)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether, in view of the time now available, he can give facilities at an early date for completing the remaining stages of the Education (Scotland) Bill.

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

The progress made in Committee last Friday with the Education (Scotland) Bill was of a very unsatisfactory character, and I see no hope whatever for this Bill except by some mutual arrangement between the two sides of the House. If such an arrangement is possible, I will not say the Bill could not be passed, but evidently the time available for such a purpose would be extremely brief.
