HC Deb 18 July 1905 vol 149 c1066
SIR W. HART DYKE (Kent, Dart, ford)

I beg to ask the hon. Member for Chorley whether the First Commissioner of Works is prepared to assist in giving facilities for the erection of a statue as a memorial to the late Sir William Harcourt within the precincts of the Palace of Westminster.

*LORD BALCARRES (Lancashire, Chorley)

A proposal has been made that the memorial shall take the form of a statue to be placed on one of the eight vacant pedestals in the lobby of the House of Commons. The First Commissioner is anxious to do all in his power to meet the views of the Harcourt Memorial Committee, so far as the limited space in the Palace of Westminster permits.
