HC Deb 10 July 1905 vol 149 c89
MR. CHARLES CRAIG

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if he will state what amount has been expended by the Board of National Education in Ireland, in each of the years 1902, 1903, and 1904, on the teaching of Irish as an extra subject in schools.

MR. WALTER LONG

In 1902, £3,050; in 1903, £7,220; and in 1904, £12,069.

MR. CHARLES CRAIG

What return is there for the expenditure of this enormous sum of money? Could it not be devoted to more useful purposes?

[No Answer was returned.]
