HC Deb 03 July 1905 vol 148 cc752-3
MR. JOSEPH WALTON (Yorkshire, W. R., Barnsley)

To ask the President of the Local Government Board whether he can state the causes of the delay in dealing with the question of the superannuation allowance of Mr. L. J. Hall, late school attendance officer of the Barnsley Union; and whether he will cause such inquiries to be made and such orders to be issued or directions given as will enable the guardians or the county council to pay the regulation superannuation to which Mr. Hall is entitled, and the increase which the guardians have recommended he should receive.

(Answered by Mr. Gerald Balfour.) The question of the superannuation allowance to Mr. Hall has stood over pending the issue of the General Order which the Local Government Board propose to make under paragraph 19 of the Second Schedule to the Education Act, 1902. Having regard, however, to the special circumstances of Mr. Hall's case, I am communicating with the West Riding County Council with a view to payment of the allowance being made at once.
