§ MR. DUFFYI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if he will explain the cause of delay in commencing the repairs to Kinvarra Harbour; whether he is aware that the County Council of Galway agreed to vote £800 towards the expenses of this work on condition that a grant of £1,100 under the Marine Works Act be made by the Treasury, the balance required for the extension of the pier to be provided as follows: £200 by the Congested Districts Board, £200 by the County Council of Galway, £1,100 by the Department of Agriculture; and, if so, whether, with a view to relieving the distress prevailing on the west coast of Ireland and in the district of Kinvarra by providing employment for the poor working population and to carrying out a useful public work, he will at once direct, that the Board of Works will take the necessary steps to initiate these works.
§ MR. WYNDHAMPlans of the proposed works were communicated to the county council by the Board of Works on December 22nd, with a request for an early reply. The council has not yet signified its approval of the plans.
