HC Deb 23 February 1905 vol 141 c1107
MR. J. P. FARRELL

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether any relief will be afforded by legislation or otherwise to those debenture-holders in the Edgeworthstown Loan Fund Society who lost their property in consequence of the default of a fraudulent secretary, who led them to believe that the society was under the control of the Loan Fund Board of Dublin Castle, which statement induced them to deposit their savings in the society.

MR. WYNDHAM

With respect to the responsibility for losses sustained by the debenture-holders, I refer to my reply to the hon. Member's similar Question of July 26th last.† A Bill has been prepared on the lines of the Bill of last year, but with such Amendments as it is hoped will meet the views of all parties concerned. This Bill will be introduced at an early date.
