HC Deb 16 February 1905 vol 141 cc321-2
MR. JAMES O"CONNOR

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieu-tenant of Ireland whether he has received a copy of a resolution recently passed by the Rathdrum District Council protesting against the action of the Department of Agriculture in letting, or advertising to let for grazing purposes on the eleven months system, over 100 acres of the lands of Avondale, county Wicklow; whether he is aware that the estate was bought for the purpose of establishing thereon a school of forestry; and whether he will advise the Department to withdraw their proposal to let a part of the estate in grass.

MR. WYNDHAM

The resolution has been received. There is no reason why the Department of Agriculture should add to the expense of such an experiment by refraining from letting land, pending the completion of the steps for carrying it out.
