§ MR. LONSDALE (Armagh, Mid)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the 957 Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that at a recent meeting of the Ballinasloe Board of Guardians it was resolved to give outdoor relief to the families of the men convicted and sentenced to terms of imprisonment at the late Galway Assizes; and will he say whether he has sanctioned this outdoor relief; and, if not, whether he proposes to take any action in the matter.
§ MR. WALTER LONGThe persons referred to are not eligible for outdoor relief, as they do not belong to any of the classes enumerated in Section 1 of the 10 Vic. cap. 31. Any relief afforded to them outside the workhouse would be liable to surcharge by the auditor.
