HC Deb 10 August 1905 vol 151 c935
MR. MURPHY (Kerry, E.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland what is the explanation of the fact that the Catholic employees in the veterinary department of the Department of Agriculture in Ireland receive a salary of only £90 a year after ten years service, whereas other employees on similar work receive much larger salaries after shorter service; and whether he will take steps that will ensure that these Catholic employees will not be again threatened with dismissal for exposing their grievances.

(Answered by Mr. Walter Long.)The clerks referred to are on the scale of salary applicable to the grade to which they belong. There is no foundation whatever for the insinuation that these clerks have been threatened with dismissal.
