HC Deb 08 August 1905 vol 151 c601
MR. FLAVIN (Kerry, N.)

To ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware that in offices where overtime is worked assistant clerks (new class) doing similar work to second-division clerks receive the same overtime rates as messengers, viz., 9d. per hour; and whether he proposes to take any steps to remove this inequality.

MR. FLAVIN

To ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware that messengers are allowed twenty-one days annual leave, while assistant clerks (new class) receive only fourteen days during the first ten years of service, and a maximum of eighteen days throughout the remainder of their service; and whether he proposes to remedy this inequality.

(Answered by Mr. Victor Cavendish.) I would refer the hon. Member to my reply to his Question of yesterday† on the subject of assistant clerks.
