HC Deb 04 August 1905 vol 151 cc246-7
MR. CLANCY (Dublin County, N.)

To ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether he will state the total cost of the Church Property Branch of the Irish Land Commission for the financial year 1899–1900; the estimate for the present year; the names, length of service, salaries, and allowances of all officers, distinguishing temporary and permanent, of that department for the year 1899–1900; the salaries and allowances of each of the aforesaid officers still in the service of the Land Commission, as estimated for the present year.

(Answered by Mr. Walter Long.) At my hon. friend's request I will reply to this Question. The total cost of the Church Property Department of the Irish Land Commission for the financial year 1899–1900 was £16,721. The total estimated cost for the financial year 1905–6 is £13,200. I am not aware that any useful public purpose would be served by the publication of the information desired in the second part of the Question, and cannot, therefore, agree to give it.
