§ MR. HELME (Lancashire, Lancaster)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, having regard to the difficulties that have arisen as to the powers of the additional members of the county licensing committees through their not having been summoned to the preliminary meeting as members of the compensation authority, with reference to the determination of any question as to the refusal of the renewal of a licence under the Licensing Act, 1904, Section 5, Sub-section 5, he will 84 consider the advisability of issuing a rule defining their powers in this respect.
§ THE UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. COCHRANE,) Ayrshire, N.No cases have come to my knowledge of failure to summon the borough additional members to the preliminary meeting of the compensation authority with reference to questions as to the refusal of the renewal of a licence. The right of those members to act with the authority for those purposes is clearly denned by the enactment quoted; and, as at present advised, I see no reason for making any rule in the matter.
