To ask the President of the Local Government Board whether he will state the total rateable value of the county of London; the proportion of the total rateable value which is represented by railways, limited companies, and other bodies not entitled to vote; and the proportion of the total rateable value which is represented by persons who compound for their rates.

(Answered by Mr. Gerald Balfour.) The total rateable value of the administrative county of London, according to the valuation lists which came into force on the 6th April, 1905, subject to appeals, is £41,657,244. A statement published by the London County Council shows that the rateable value of railway property in the county, according to the valuation lists which came into force on the 6th April, 1901, was £2,307,864. The Board are not in a position to give the other particulars asked for.
