HC Deb 13 April 1905 vol 145 cc77-8
MR. GILHOOLY

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that Mr. Lane, who was appointed inspector on the White Estate, near Bantry, is a member of the firm of solicitors who had the carriage of sale of said estate; and, if no, is the appointment in accordance with precedent.

MR. ATKINSON

Mr. Lane was not appointed inspector on this estate. Messrs. Guest, Lane & Co. were the solicitors having carriage of sale, but they were in no sense appointed by the Commissioners.

MR. GILHOOLY

I am informed Mr. Lane was the only person seen at the time of the inspection.
