HC Deb 13 April 1905 vol 145 cc50-1
MR. SLOAN

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if he is aware that the manager, in appointing an assistant teacher in Strandtown National School, Belfast, in August, 1902, made it a condition that she should teach regularly in his Sunday school, and that, on the assistant's refusal to do so, she was forced to resign; and, if so, will he take steps to insert a clause in the Irish agreement forms for teachers similar to that in use in the English Education Department, in order to prevent similar occurrences in future.

(Answered by Mr. Atkinson.) The agreement between the manager and the assistant teacher, executed on the appointment of the latter in August, 1902, does not contain the condition referred to, and the Commissioners have no official knowledge of any such condition. The
