HC Deb 13 April 1905 vol 145 cc54-5
MR. GILHOOLY

TO ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he has received a resolution, passed unanimously by the Committee of Management of the Cork District Lunatic Asylum, calling on him to promote a Bill to enable the committee to deport insane patients of other nationalities and counties who have been committed and remain chargeable to the local rates, and pointing out that those patients occupy the places in the institution erected, maintained, and taxed for local patients, thereby contributing to the overcrowding which at present exists in the asylum; and, if so, whether he purposes to give effect to it during this session.

(Answered by Mr. Atkinson.) The resolution has been received. My right hon. friend is unable at present to give an undertaking to introduce legislation on it he subject.
