O'DOWD (Sligo, S.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he can state the amount expended during the I past financial year by Irish boards of guardians and district lunatic asylum committees on salaries of Stocktakers appointed to take stock of the provisions of these institutions; and whether, seeing that these officers were created by the Local Government Board under the Act of 1898, the amount expended on account of their salaries will be recouped to the local authorities by the Treasury or from some Government source.
