HC Deb 03 April 1905 vol 144 c112
MR. O'KELLY (Mayo, N.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if the Congested Districts Board or the Estates Commissioners have taken any steps to purchase the Island of Innisglora, Belmullet Union, county Mayo, which property is under the control of the Court of Chancery; and, if not, seeing that the present grazing tenants are willing to surrender, they will take such steps with a view to the enlargement of holdings and the reinstatement of evicted tenants.

(Answered by Mr. Walter Long.) The reply to this Question is in the negative. This island, of which the Poor Law valuation is but £8 5s., is stated to consist chiefly of sandy wastes, and it has no permanent residents.
