HC Deb 02 May 1904 vol 134 cc124-5
MR. O'DOWD

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the fact that passengers travelling by the Great Southern and Western Railway from Sligo to Cullooney cannot book, to the latter station, but must take tickets for Leyny, a station some miles further on, he will take steps to have this alleged grievance redressed.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRADE (Mr. GERALD BALFOUR,) Leeds, Central

The line between Sligo and Cullooney is the property of the Midland Great Western Railway Company. The Great Southern and Western Railway Company have, I understand, under an agreement entered into by the Water ford. Limerick, and Western Railway Company, prior to the amalgamation of the two companies, power to use the line for the purposes of through traffic to or from their line, but cannot carry local traffic. The matter does not appear to be one in which the Board of Trade have jurisdiction.
