HC Deb 02 May 1904 vol 134 cc94-5
MR. COHEN (Islington, E.)

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will state the number of licences in each of the counties of England and Wales, and London separately, the renewal of which has been refused by the licensing justices in each of the years 1894 to 1903, and which have been renewed on appeal to quarter sessions.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Akers-Douglas.) The following table gives the number of cases (arranged in counties as desired by my hon. friend) in which quarter sessions have reversed the decision of licensing justices in regard to the renewal of licences, so far as is shown by the Parliamentary Returns on the subject:—Statement of the number of licences in each of the Counties of England and Wales, and London separately, the renewal of which has been refused by the licensing justices in the years 1894 to 1903, and which have been renewed on appeal to quarter sessions.
