HC Deb 28 March 1904 vol 132 c819
MR. CATHCART WASON (Orkney and Shetland)

To ask the hon. Member for North Huntingdonshire, as representing the President of the Board of Agriculture, if he will ascertain the cost of supplying owners of dogs with collars free of charge, and whether the increased revenue which will be obtained from an efficient system of registration would meet such cost.

(Answered by Mr. Ailwyn Fellowes.) I do not think it is probable that any such increase of revenue is likely to accrue by reason of the better enforcement of the dog licence duty as would be sufficient to cover the cost of collars, and of any system of registration which might be adopted. As the hon. Member is aware, the proceeds of the dog licence duties are paid over to the various local authorities.
