HC Deb 28 March 1904 vol 132 c821
MR. JOHN O'DONNELL (Mayo, S.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he will consider the advisability of handing over the rifles that are being discarded by the police in Ireland to those tenants who may become peasant proprietors under the Land Act of 1903, with a view to the revival of the Irish Volunteers; and, if so, whether he will take the necessary steps to have the adult population thoroughly trained in the use of arms.

(Answered by Mr. Wyndham.) The rifles will be returned to the War Department.
