To ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies what is the revenue and expenditure according to latest estimates of the Transvaal and Orange River Colony respectively, showing the revenue from railways separately.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Lyttelton.) The Transvaal revenue on 1st February was estimated by Lord Milner at £4,300,000, and the expenditure at £3,600,000. The Orange River Colony revenue is estimated at about £750,000. The estimate of expenditure for the Orange River Colony is £553,686. The net revenue of the railways is now estimated at £1,400,000. To this figure should be added £200,000, carried forward from the last financial year.
