To ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the sum of £3,000,000 sterling advanced by way of loan to the Transvaal and Orange River Colony has been repaid to the Exchequer in terms of The South African Loan and War Contribution Act, 1903.

To ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the sum paid in addition to the £3,000,000 advanced by way of loan on account of the Transvaal and Orange River Colony, and estimated by the Chancellor of the Exchequer in 1903 at £4,000,000 sterling, has been paid to the National Debt Commissioners, and applied by them towards the discharge of any Exchequer bonds or Treasury bills falling due during the financial year ending the 31st of March, 1904, in terms of The South African Loan and War Contribution Act, 1903.

(Answered by Mr. Austen Chamberlain.) A sum of £3,000,000 (apart from the £3,000,000 repaid to the Exchequer) has been paid to the National Debt Commissioners and applied towards the discharge of Exchequer bonds which fell due on the 7th August, 1903.
