MR. WEIR

To ask the Secretary of State for India if he will state what percentage of persons inoculated with plague serum in India subsequently died of plague.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Brodrick.) Calculated on the figures of inoculations and deaths in the several provinces given by my predecessor in office in reply to a Question asked by the hon. Member on 11th June, 1903,† the percentage of deaths is 24. I have no later information on the subject, but the Government of India have lately taken steps to secure a more accurate record for the future.
