HC Deb 07 March 1904 vol 131 cc274-5
MR. WILLIAM M'KILLOP (Sligo, N.)

To ask the Postmaster-General if he is aware that the telephone directories in many of the post offices in Ireland are three years old, and if he can state how many directories for 1904 for the trunk lines and of those of exchanges with the National Telephone Company have been provided this year for Irish offices, and at what cost per directory.

(Answered by Lord Stanley.) A copy of the latest directory of the National Telephone Company, containing a complete list of their subscribers, and a copy of the supplementary directory since issued, has been supplied for use at every post office exchange and call office in Ireland, as well as in other parts of the United Kingdom. Copies of the latest editions of the Post Office Telephone Directories have also been supplied. Instructions have from time to time been given that all obsolete directories shall be withdrawn from use; and I shall be glad if the hon. Member will give me the names of any offices at which these instructions would appear to have been disregarded. The National Telephone Company's complete list of subscribers in the United Kingdom is published by the company at the price of 10s. per copy.
