HC Deb 07 March 1904 vol 131 c274
MR. BRYNMOR JONES (Swansea District)

To ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he can state the quantities of coal, culm, coke, and patent fuel exported from Germany to France in the years 1901, 1902. and 1903, distinguishing between railway-borne and sea-borne exports of such commodities.

(Answered by Mr. Gerald Balfour.) The German Trade Accounts do not distinguish between rail-borne and sea-borne exports The French Trade Accounts, however, give the following figures as to the imports into France from Germany of the commodities referred to in the years mentioned:—

regulation would be perfectly futile, as it would only result in postponing the application of descriptions until after the goods had passed out of bond, and would afford no real protection to the public.
