MR. J. P.FARRELL (Longford, N.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland to state why it is that the tenant purchasers on the Granard Estate living at Soran, county Longford, have been deprived of their turbary, although a large quantity of bog is available in their vicinity; and whether he will direct the Land Commission to take steps under Section 21 of the Irish Land Act, 1903, with a view to providing these tenants with turbary as before.
§ MR. WYNDHAMThe sales to tenants in this district were closed seven years ago. They were not deprived of any rights of turbary enjoyed by them before purchase.
§ MR. J. P. FARRELLHas the right hon. Gentleman seen the judgment of the Land Commissioner in which he expressly declined to give these tenants their turbary rights.
§ MR. WYNDHAMI have not seen the judgment but I am informed that after the sale they had every right they enjoyed before.
§ MR. J. P. FARRELLI will forward the judgment to the right hon. Gentleman, and perhaps he will bring it to the notice of the Estates Commissioners.
