§ SIR JOHN COLOMBTo ask the Secretary of State for War whether he can state the total number of batteries of Artillery Volunteers at the date of the latest Returns previous to the outbreak of war in South Africa.
(Answered by Mr. Secretary Arnold-Forster.) Exclusive of the Honourable Artillery Company, there were ninety-nine Volunteer batteries of position at that time.
